LAKS - Convenience at Hand

The MasterCard PayPass™ product line targets secure and fast payments execution of small amounts. The expansion into alternative form-factors other than regular cards promotes a wider market penetration.

The LAKS Smart Transaction Watch 2 will attract new segments of card acceptance. This product closes the gap between cash and card products such as debit and credit cards. The Smart Transaction Watch complements Austria Card's product range of cards and services to a full basket of payment devices and solutions.

Standardised Issuing Process
The LAKS Smart Transaction Watch 2 provides a Slide-In System card slot to accept an ISO ID-000 shaped payment card. Similar to the SIM card insertion into mobile phones, cardholders can
place in their personalised cards into the watch, without tools or special skills. Cards can be produced and personalised through the established issuing processes.

Performance, Security and Flexibility
The core of the Smart Transaction Watch 2 is Austria Card's latest generation of ACE Dual Interface chips ACOS EMV-DI02. This product is implemented on the NXP P5CD012 semiconductor. It features an industry bench-mark transaction speed of 385 milliseconds for a PayPass EMV transaction. Security is ensured through the EAL5+ level Common Criteria certification for the chip hardware. The versatile architecture of the chip hard-ware is utilised by Austria Card's ACOS operating system and the application implementation. Besides of the PayPass Magstripe and PayPass M/Chip, the same product offers a conventional EMV DDA and a regular MIFARE contactless functionality. 12 Kbyte of E²PROM provide ample space for customised third-party and contactless ticketing applications.

Non-Card Form Factor
With the Smart Transaction Watch 2, Austria Card conquers new regions and leaves behind the conventional card form factor. Austria Card's chip technology excellence will be conveyed into millions of wristwatches world wide and enrich the portfolio of numerous local card service providers. It is in line with Lykos Group's strategy to leverage R&D efforts through extension of the form factor range and sales of chip software licenses.
