London – AUSTRIACARD has been designated as a partner of choice for the production of the Oyster card, which is the global landmark project when it comes to public transport. Hence, Transport for London’s (TfL) partners are chosen with utmost diligence and the competition was fierce. Only the four best tenderers were selected as Oyster card suppliers.
Due to the wide acceptance amongst the population, the number of cards that are produced each year amounts to an impressive 8 million. As a major European player, AUSTRIACARD has the profound experience with secure smart cards which is necessary for a project of this magnitude. This backed by the resources of the LYKOS Group assures that the company will handle the project in an efficient way. The first deliveries have already been successfully processed.
For the company the project is a major milestone, especially with regard to convergent card products, combining identification and payment features. The card is also equipped with NFC-technology, thus making it a state-of-the-art product.
